Son of Sardaar release postponed
Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s comic caper Son of Sardaar 2 is among the most anticipated films of 2025. It was initially slated for a 25th July release but has now been pushed to 1st August. The official update was shared by the makers on their social media handles.

Announcing the same, the makers dropped a new poster, with the caption, “The laughter riot just got a new date. Son of Sardaar 2 will now release in cinemas on 1st August 2025 worldwide." Interestingly, the new release date coincides with actress Mrunal Thakur’s birthday.

While the real reason behind the delay is not revealed, reports suggest that Saiyaara’s bumper opening is the reason behind this move. For the unversed, Mohit Suri’s drama starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda minted over Rs 21 crores on Day 1, making it the biggest opener of 2025 so far.
As per reports by Bollywood Hungama, “Yash Raj Films’ Saiyaara has taken a surprisingly gigantic opening on the day of its release, July 18. The reports of the film are extremely positive, and hence, it will do better on Saturday than Friday. Meanwhile, Sunday will be huge, and it’ll also stay strong in the weekdays and the second week as well. In such a scenario, having a big film like Son of Sardaar 2 just a week later will not be good for the business of both films. Hence, Ajay Devgn, Jio Studios and others took the decision of moving a week ahead with their film’s release.”

To note, while the film will avert the onslaught of Saiyaara, it will lock horns with the Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri starrer Dhadak 2 at the box office.
