Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde have joined hands for David Dhawan's next film titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The team is currently shooting in Europe, aiming for an April 2026 release.

Chunari Chunari remake

New clips that have surfaced online reveal that the makers are recreating the iconic song Chunari Chunari. In the videos circulating on social media, the cast can be seen dancing to the popular track from the 1999 film Biwi No. 1.

Remaking old popular songs is not a new trend. Several films in recent times have incorporated retro tracks to evoke nostalgia among Bollywood moviegoers. Now, 26 years later, David Dhawan is revisiting Chunari Chunari, originally featured in Biwi No. 1. The original song, sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Anuradha Sriram, starred Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen.

In the clips doing the rounds on social media, Varun, Pooja, and Mrunal can be seen dancing to the remade version of Chunari Chunari in western attire.

Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai release date

The release date of actor Varun Dhawan’s film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his father David Dhawan, has been locked. The romantic-comedy, which also stars Mrunal Thakur, Mouni Roy, and Pooja Hegde, will hit theatres on April 10, 2026.

Sharing the film’s first poster, the makers wrote on Instagram,“Double the trouble, triple the fun! Jab Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai hits cinemas on 10th April 2026.”

Produced by Ramesh Taurani and directed by David Dhawan, the film promises a whirlwind of romance, chaos, and classic Bollywood flair with a modern twist.

Film title's connection with Biwi No.1

Interestingly, the movie’s title is inspired by the hit song Ishq Sona Hai from Dhawan’s blockbuster Biwi No. 1, which starred Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Sushmita Sen.

The film also features Maniesh Paul, Jimmy Sheirgill, Mouni Roy, Chunky Panday, Rakesh Bedi, and Ali Asgar in key roles. It is currently being shot in the UK.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is also gearing up for Border 2, which brings together a powerful cast including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is a follow-up to the 1997 war epic Border, which portrayed the 1971 India-Pakistan war and became a massive hit.
