Kim Namjoon, aka RM of the K-pop group BTS, has a passion for all types of art. A passionate collector of items from his own country and around the world, the singer's new endeavour will allow him to present several well-known modern and contemporary artworks through an exhibition. These items are supposed to be a mix of the singer's own collection and those from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). Tickets for the exhibition will be available in the future, as announced more than a year in advance.

RM to collaborate with San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

On October 3, a note from his label disclosed RM's plans to hold an exhibition in the future year. The event will last around five months, from October 2026 to February 2027, and will take place at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in San Francisco, California, USA. Fans are already excited to see the BTS members' personal collection, even if information such as dates and ticketing has yet to be made public.

The show will feature works by 'important figures of modern and contemporary Korean art represented in the collection of RM- Yun Hyong Keun, Park Rehyun, Kwon Okyon, Kim Yun Shin, To Sangbong, and Chang Ucchin.' On the other hand, SFMOMA's collection includes works by Korean artist Kim Whanki as well as American and European artists such as Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Paul Klee. The event will feature 200 works from the RM and SFMOMA collections, ranging from modern Korean artworks to global contemporary pieces.

RM took to social media to share the news, revealing that he first heard about the exhibition last year and could still remember how excited he was. He began visiting museums in 2018 and has since built his own collection, which he is eager to share with the rest of the globe. The BTS musician encouraged everyone to attend the event with open hearts.

RM also donated 200 million won during his birthday

Recently, RM also impressed fans by donating 200 million won to domestic hospitals, according to Chosun.com. According to a medical community source, Namjoon gave 100 million won each to Asan Medical Centre in Seoul and Korea University Medical Centre for development purposes.

Namjoon said, “I decided to donate with the hope of participating in something meaningful on my birthday. I hope this donation can provide even a small help to patients who are suffering due to economic difficulties despite needing treatment.”

The BTS member is known to donate every year on his birthday. In 2024, the BTS leader pledged 100 million won to support the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' Campaign to Thank Uniformed Workers. Later in 2023, he made a donation to the Korean Society of Legal Medicine. In 2021 and 2022, he donated to the Overseas Korean Cultural treasures Foundation to help restore and preserve cultural treasures.
