Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay is currently making headlines after his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce before the Chengalpattu district court. Amid this, he was spotted attending a wedding with rumoured GF, Trisha Krishnan. After their spotting, director Mohan G Kshatriyan was slammed for lauding Vijay’s ‘guts’. He has now issued a clarification and mentioned he does not support an illegal affair.

He wrote, "Actor Vijay Sir answers everyone in his style and shuts down all rumours. He has guts." Soon after, the filmmaker received immense backlash for allegedly supporting Vijay and Trisha’s affair. A social media user wrote, "I had great respect and hope for you as a director. I believed you stood for something good, for our culture and dharma. But this post reveals the truth. It shows how the film industry will do anything for fame and money. The values shown in movies rarely reflect real life. Unfollowing you."

However, Mohan clarified that his comment did not imply support for any alleged affair. He wrote, "They set a narrative against him using a group of media. He broke that narrative in his own way. I appreciated that guts. It doesn't mean I'm supporting illegal affairs. If you all don't get this, what can I do? Fall in narratives as usual.”

About Thalapathy Vijay’s divorce

The filing reportedly accused Vijay of infidelity and alleged that he was involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress. The petition also claims that since 2021, Vijay had emotionally withdrawn, treated his wife with verbal disdain, and subjected her to constructive desertion, forcing her to live separately within the matrimonial home. It further alleged that Vijay continued to travel abroad and attend public events with the said actress.

The duo got married in August 1999, and they are parents to two kids, Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha. Recently, it was reported that Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay, may have unfollowed him on social media amid the ongoing legal battle between his parents.

Apart from his personal life, Vijay has also been in the news after his last film, Jana Nayagan, got delayed due to a CBFC issue. Despite legal proceedings, there continues to be a stay order on the film.
