For years, Trisha and Vijay have been linked together, although both have maintained that they are just friends. However, their recent joint appearance and its timing have fueled speculation on social media, with many convinced that the two may finally be acknowledging their relationship.

Amid the ongoing buzz, Trisha’s old pictures with her former fiancé Varun Manian have resurfaced online. The actress was engaged to the Chennai-based entrepreneur in 2015. On January 23, 2015, Trisha got engaged to Manian, but in May of the same year, she called off the engagement. The exact reason behind the breakup was never officially revealed at the time.

According to a report by OnManorama, Trisha later explained that the relationship ended because she was asked to stop acting after marriage. Speaking about the decision, she reportedly said, “That’s why my wedding was called off. The person I was supposed to marry asked me to stop acting. Instead of films, I chose to put a full stop to my engagement. I will only take a break when I get pregnant. If I am not offered lead roles, I will do characters that suit my image, but I won’t move away from the film industry. My wish is to act until my last breath.”

Vijay and Trisha’s public appearance

On Thursday night, Vijay attended the wedding reception of producer Kalapathy Suresh’s son in Chennai. What caught everyone’s attention, however, was that he was accompanied by Trisha. The two were seen twinning in off-white traditional outfits. Vijay wore an off-white shirt with a veshti, while Trisha looked elegant in a similar-coloured saree paired with a red blouse.

About Vijay and Sangeetha’s divorce

Vijay, who is also the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is currently facing divorce proceedings after his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam reportedly filed a petition in the Chengalpattu family court.

The petition comes amid reports that Sangeetha has been living separately from the actor. According to the filing, she accused Vijay of infidelity, alleging that he was involved in an “adulterous relationship” with an actress.

The petition reportedly states that in April 2021, Sangeetha discovered the alleged relationship, which caused her “deep emotional pain and mental suffering,” amounting to betrayal and a violation of marital trust. It further claims that Vijay continued to publicly associate with the said actress, causing emotional distress and embarrassment to their children.

The filing also alleges that since 2021, Vijay had emotionally withdrawn, treated his wife with verbal disdain, and subjected her to constructive desertion, forcing her to live separately within the matrimonial home. It further claims that he continued to travel abroad and attend public events with the actress in question.
