Bigg Boss 19 brings big changes! Salman Khan returns as host, a 5.5-month run is planned, the show ditches influencers for a celebrity-only format & more
Bigg Boss 19 updates
The next season of Salman Khan-hosted controversial reality show Bigg Boss is making headlines with major format changes and a revised runtime. The social media account and Bigg Boss news tracker ‘Bigg Boss Khabri’ has shared significant updates about the upcoming season. Here's everything reported recently about Bigg Boss 19:
Salman Khan to continue as host
There have been several reports speculating that Salman Khan might not return to host after Season 18. However, according to the Instagram page, Salman is very much part of the next season and is scheduled to shoot the first promo for Bigg Boss 19 in June 2025. The new season is expected to premiere in the second half of July.
Bigg Boss 19 to be the longest season
While the reality show has typically followed a three-month format, this year the new season is expected to break records. Bigg Boss 19 is set to run for approximately 5.5 months, making it the longest season in the show's history.
Celebrity-only format
In recent seasons, the show introduced influencers and YouTubers into the mix. While winners like Munawar Faruqui, Elvish Yadav, and MC Stan made headlines, and others like Abhishek Malhan and Rajat Dalal gained popularity, the format faced criticism from fans. The makers have now decided to go back to the classic celebrity-only format, inviting actors, television personalities, and Bollywood celebrities for Season 19.
Premiere date
Reports suggest that casting for the show has already begun, with the makers planning to premiere the new season around July 30, 2025. If true, this would mark an earlier-than-usual start for the show.
Bigg Boss OTT cancelled
Reports also indicate that Bigg Boss OTT, the digital edition of the franchise on JioCinema, has been cancelled for this year. The move appears to be a strategic decision to focus all efforts and resources on Bigg Boss 19.
Channel change possibility
Amid rumours of a rift with producers Banijay Asia, it remains unclear whether Bigg Boss will continue on Colors or return to Sony TV.
