Anita Hassanandani returns to reality shows with Chhoriyan Chali Gaon. In an exclusive chat with mid-day the actress got candid about facing mom's guilt as she has to leave her son Aarav and participate in the captive reality show. She detailed how her husband Rohit Reddy supported her and asked her not to worry about their son while she was away for 2 months.
On participating in Chhoriyan Chali Gaon
Amita on participating in the show, "It is going to be a tough one not to be able to be in touch with my family. To be away from them, but Aarav is fully taken care of. My husband has fully taken over, and my mom-in-law is here. Aaru is very close to her, and I think I have great family support, which is why I am able to do this show. And the show is super interesting and exciting, which is why I couldn't say no to it. It is giving me a chance to reconnect with rural India. To interact with the gaon walas and learn from them. So many interesting things, I am going with an open mind so that I can soak all of that in."
On experiencing mom's guilt
On facing mom's guilt, "100%, in fact first time the show was offered to me, I had refused, thinking about how I would leave my son and go. But Rohit convinced me, and he told me that if I like the concept, I must go. A mother always puts her career on the back burner for their child. But if there is a husband's support, then it's all possible. He told me that it was a good concept and I should go for it without worrying about Aarav. He gave me the strength. I feel that I am going to learn so much from this show that will help me with Aarav's upbringing. Both Aaru and I will become emotionally strong in this journey. If you look at it, I know it's two months, but if you look at it positively, then it's barely two months."
On thing that scares her the most, "I am really scared of the quiet environment. Bombay is filled with noise and its hustle and bustle. Initially, the quiet would feel peaceful and calming, but after some time, it starts eating you. I am scared of the sannata, insects, if there are snakes and obviously the weather."
