As the visionary behind Balaji Telefilms, she has delivered numerous iconic shows that became household names.  One such legendary creation was Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which premiered 25 years ago today and revolutionized Indian daily soaps. The show not only changed the landscape of Indian television but also became a cultural phenomenon.

Celebrating the show's silver jubilee, Ekta took to social media to mark the occasion and shared the introduction video of the show while writing a nostalgic caption that reads - 


"25 YEARS!!!Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi wasn't just a show... it was an emotion. A piece of my heart. A dream that started with folded hands and limitless faith in Shri Balaji... a story that became India's story. It gave @balajitelefilms its first wings... and gave me memories, love, and characters that continue to live in every home, every heart. Even today, when someone hums or create reels on the iconic theme "Rishton" or tells me how Tulsi felt like their own, it melts my heart and adds strength to my spirit".

She added, "With my parents' blessings, my amazing team, our beautiful cast, and each one of YOU, our loyal audience..this journey became magical. Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay on Kyunki...

Talking about the special occasion, Smriti Irani, who moved from acting to politics, said, “‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ isn’t just a show, it’s a shared memory. For those who created it and the millions who embraced it, it was a story of families, faith, and the fabric that binds us across generations. Twenty-five years later, it still lives in our hearts. My gratitude to those who made the journey possible”.

Actor Amar Upadhyay said, "Twenty-five years ago, we began a journey that was more than just a show, it was a mirror to millions of households, a reflection of traditions, love, trials, and the changing face of Indian families. Being a part of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ wasn’t just a role, it was a responsibility, a privilege, and a turning point not just for me, but for everyone who lived and breathed this world with us. It changed our lives, rewrote television history, and connected generations. Even today, its echoes live on in how we see relationships, resilience, and reinvention”.

Ekta Kapoor’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was an iconic storyline, and the cast's performances were immensely loved by audiences. The show’s final episode aired on 6 November 2008. Over the years, the cast featured many actors, including Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay, Inder Kumar, Ronit Roy, Mandira Bedi, and Achint Kaur. It became one of the most popular shows, winning multiple awards and setting records.

After a successful streak of hit content, Ekta Kapoor is gearing up for an exciting lineup. She’s collaborating with TVF for the first time on VvAN, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, and reuniting with Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan for the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla. She’s also making her Malayalam debut with a film starring Mohanlal.
