UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited Khyber, one of Mumbai’s most iconic dining institutions, while in the city. The Prime Minister and his delegation from the British High Commission attended a sit-down dinner for 40 guests at the landmark restaurant in Kala Ghoda, renowned for its North-West Frontier cuisine and rich cultural legacy.

Soaking in the spirit of the city and India not only culturally, but also gastronomically, he indulged in a menu for the evening that featured a wide variety of Khyber favourites. Some of them were dishes such as Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Kagani, Jeera Aloo, Dal Makhani, Steamed Rice, Reshmi Broccoli, Chicken Reshmi Kebab, Palak Paneer, and Chicken Rara, among others. Incidentally, these dishes are some of many that have defined the restaurant's legacy for over six decades.

Coincidentally, the restaurant is currently celebrating its 65th anniversary, and is one of many Mumbai food establishments that have stood the test of time, and continues to stand as a symbol of India’s culture and hospitality. It was founded by Sudheer Bahl and is now led by his son Ishaan Bahl, who is a third-generation restauranteur.

“It is a proud moment for all of us at Khyber to have hosted the UK Prime Minister. For over five decades, Khyber has embodied India’s culture and hospitality, and this visit reaffirms our place as a landmark in Mumbai’s dining legacy and history,” sharing the excitement of the privileged visit, Ishaan, CEO of Khyber said.

UK PM Starmer is not the first among global names to visit Khyber, over the six decades, the restaurant has seen many others like Shakira, Brad Pitt, Sir Paul McCartney, Richard Branson and Demi Moore, apart from the likes of Indian superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, as revealed earlier to mid-day.

Interestingly, the restaurant also boasts of walls that have been adorned with original artworks by India's most celebrated artists like M.F. Husain and Anjolie Ela Menon, making it quite the pitstop for food and art when you are in Mumbai and are in the famous art district of Kala Ghoda.
