Mughal nobility seated on elephants engage in a hunting round, while some village belles play games. These are not scenes from some hot-selling video-game, but picks from the collection of dioramas at the Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum. Made between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these dioramas captured colonial Indian life in great detail. The pluralism of festivals and attires depicted in them proves that we are a nation of excess.
