Vanity van designer Dilip Chhabria is exhibiting 20 three dimensional wall sculptures at the atelier

Dilip Chhabria may be famed for his famous vanity van designs for popular actors such as Sanjay Dutt and Shah Rukh Khan. But art lovers in the city will get a rare opportunity to glimpse his three-dimensional wall sculptures at the Atelier.

The ten-day long exhibition will feature around 20 pieces of artwork inspired from car designs. Chhabria says, "People in Pune don't know much about the artist within me because I have always been known as a car designer. For my exhibition, they can look forward to visual feats."

He admits that his work has been inspired by automobile designs such as petal curves. "There is a different sensitivity to car designing which depends on three dimensional work while sculptures are 3-D blocks," he explains.

He adds that he was planning to work on sculptures for quite some time and has been following the abstract paintings by painters such as SH Raza. "Abstract paintings are very enriching and give you the freedom to express your ideas. Otherwise you are competing with a photograph," he adds.
