You might want to sign up for a Sindhi Food Crawl, organised by Wandering Foodies, this Saturday. On the menu are Sindhi adaptations of the popular Pani Puri, Mirchi Ke Pakode, Chole Pattice and Kheema Pattice along with a personally guided tour of Chembur Camp.

&ldquo;Most of the dishes are what people have heard before and eaten, but here in Chembur Camp they are prepared differently, and taste differently,&rdquo; says Rahul Patil, one of the co-founders of Wandering Foodie, adding, &ldquo;The food crawl highlights that difference in taste and preparation.&rdquo;

One of the interesting Sindhi specialties that are covered as part of the event is Sanni Pakoda that is fried and cut and then fired again. It is prepared by a local shop and served with pav and chutney. The food crawl will also cover some of the popular Sindhi joints in the area such as Gopal (known for its non-veg dishes like Kheema Pattice), Jhama Sweets and Vig&rsquo;s restaurant. Jhama Sweets, supposedly serves Mumbai&rsquo;s best gulab jamuns and are exported as well, we are told. But it&rsquo;s not only food that&rsquo;s on the menu, informs Patil. &ldquo;Along the way we also talk about Sindhi history and how the Chembur Camp, a refugee camp came to be,&rdquo; he adds.
Each food crawl is designed to have just 10 people, and there are only four seats available. The cost includes food charges as well.
