While one restaurant in Mumbai gives a rare twist to the traditional thepla, another serves a starter similar to the regional favourite, kothimbir vadi. If you are looking for such delicacies in the city, this list will come to rescue

1. +91: This two-week-old restaurant near Juhu Circle makes an honest but steep attempt to bring India on the plate with jamun martini and recheado tikka. The decor comprising of kitschy lanterns and barnis (pickle jars) will transport you back to your childhood days. From Andhra-style Rasam to Allahabad Beetroot Tikki, Parsi Style Sali Boti, Gondoraj Duck, Kashmiri Gushtaba Goat Curry and Cumin Sikkim Red Rice, the menu covers most of India, though restricted to popular fare. Each dish is accompanied by the area code of the city where it originates from. Onion Bhanavala, a Maharashtrian delicacy, resembles the kothimbir vadi. Other regional dishes like Recheado Murg Tikka, Rajasthani Laal Maas and Rosemary and Olive Naan can be tried to explore the flavours of India. You can wash these dishes down with a glass of Jambhul Karvand Martini, Majjiga or the Andhra-style, thick and spiced buttermilk. The Motichur and Sitaphal Rabdi Parfait served in a Margarita glass is a dessert worth savouring.
Where: Om Satyadeep Apartments, Gulmohar Cross Road 7, JVPD Scheme, Juhu
