For the love of chocolate Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar's latest offering, TAG, is being hailed for its delicious vegetarian offerings. Among these finds is the White Sesame and Chocolate Pave with 70 per cent dark chocolate mousse and Nutella dust (Rs 300). "The recipe is inspired by my love for Nutella and brownies. The challenge, however, was to create an eggless version that would be moist. To enhance the nuttiness, we used sesame," says Brar about his creation.

Have your (eggless) cake Mansi Shah lived in the US for a few years, where she faced great difficulty finding desserts that were vegetarian. "The few options that were available lacked taste and texture. So I started baking my own cakes to celebrate any special occasion in the family," says Shah. After returning to India, she started The Cake Salon, which creates completely egg-free desserts, specialising in sugar flowers and fondant cakes. Shah doesn't have a standalone store, but takes orders for customised cakes and other desserts.

Shortcake heaven The dainty shortcakes at Deliciae&nbsp;- Bandra's newest standalone patisserie - are all eggless. They come in a range of flavours such as Apple Cinnamon, Strawberry, Peach and Kiwi, and Banana Nutella, among others. Try the Strawberry Shortcake (Rs 180), which is a beautiful marriage of flavours and textures. It stays solid in your hand but gently crumbles and melts in your mouth. The strawberries provide a lovely contrast to the cream. "There is a huge demand for eggless desserts, and we wanted the shortcake to be one of the highlights of the store, as they are light, great in taste, and something others are not doing," says owner Bunty Mahajan. She adds that her son, who adores shortcakes, was the one who insisted they be included in the menu.

Piece of pie. If you want to go the healthy way with your desserts, try the Chickpeas Walnut Banana Pie (Rs 150) at Garde Manger Cafe. The pie uses ingredients such as dates, walnuts, honey, chickpeas and multigrain flour. You could also try the Greek Yoghurt Apple Crumble (Rs 180). "We wanted to start a cafe that serves healthy vegetarian food because a lot of people are now conscious about their diets. Moreover, my family is vegetarian," says owner Parvinder Singh.
