Typically, eggs feature in the breakfast sections across restaurants in the city. But if you wish to take your love for eggs a step ahead, head to Ministry of Eggs, a new egg-centric quick service restaurant located in the food court of a mall in Ghatkopar.

We drop in on a weeknight. The menu is a delight for any egg lover. The QSR hails from Surat, so you will find Gujarati references such as Egg Lasan Kachchu. Those looking for mess-free bites can pick French Toast Sandwich or Egg Rolls. We also spot Parsi favourites Salli Par Edu and Akuri on Buttered Toast ('170), which is our first pick. They suggest an option of picking oil or butter for all the dishes to be cooked in.

A perfect mix of heat with the mild sweetness of onions, Akuri makes for a good start to our meal. Next is the Egg Paaplet ('250). Don't let the name fool you. There's no fish here. Instead, it features a tomato and onion-based gravy stuffed in an omelette, garnished with a green veggies and chilli tempering with cheese. This suffices as a meal for one.

We skip the Fry section (they have tomato, Chinese, green vegetables and even Russian Fry) and opt for gravies instead - Egg Lahori ('270) and Egg Mamna ('299). Both come with four portions of extremely soft mini pavs. We're told the pavs are a Surti speciality. A combination of eggs, cheese and spices cooked together in one go, the silken Lahori gravy is delicious. We need to call for extra pavs to savour it for a bit longer. The Mamna gravy includes egg kebabs topped with a spicy tomato and egg gravy that again, makes for a meal by itself.

We have saved their twist on a local favourite, Egg Vada Pav ('49), for last. If you love eggs and vada pav, this is a match made in heaven, with a perfect potato vada interspersed with a good dose of eggs.
Despite being a QSR, the kiosk's owner approaches our table to check on feedback. We'd love to do an encore, especially on a rainy afternoon.
