Like countless home chefs who found inspiration in the pandemic, Bejan Khusrowshahi, a resident of Thane, put on his oven mitts and got baking. The hospitality professional, who then worked with a cruiseliner, tells us, “Baking had always been a hobby and I restarted it when the lockdown began.” Selling the eats under the brand Bejan Bakes, he runs the kitchen single-handedly.

On the menu are 250-500-gm loaves of rich plum cake, date and walnut cake, carrot-raisins cake, plain mawa cake and tutti fruity cake in the pocket-friendly price range of Rs 210 to Rs 700, all devoid of preservatives. He delivers across Thane, south Mumbai and the suburbs, until Jogeshwari.
