Mumbai Police have confirmed that Shariful Islam Shehzad, arrested in connection with the attack on Saif Ali Khan, matched in a facial recognition test with CCTV footage recovered during the investigation. This marks a significant development in the case, which had earlier faced concerns over a mismatch between Shehzad’s fingerprints and the initial 19 samples sent to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

While the police had previously stated that no reports had been received from the CID, they clarified that over 200 samples were collected from the crime scene, where several individuals, including Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, were present. Despite the fingerprint mismatch, officials have assured that substantial evidence, including oral, physical, and technical proof, links Shehzad to the crime. The investigation continues with the facial recognition result providing a key lead.
