Bhiwandi building collapse: Three including five-year-old dead, 11 rescued

An official said that about 22 residents were believed to be trapped in the building at the time of the incident

Three persons including a five year old girl have died after a building collapsed in Bhiwandi area of Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said. 11 residents have also been rescued from the debris. The deceased have been identified as Navnath Sawant, 40; Laxmidevi Ravi Mhato, 26 years and Sona Mukesh Kori, a 5 year old girl.

The incident occurred in Vardhaman compound in Bhiwandi in Maharashtra's Thane district on Saturday, April 29. A ground plus 3-storey structure collapsed at around 1.45 pm trapping workers who were working on the lower floor and families living on the second floor.
