BMC polls: Congress demands recounting of votes after close defeat by BJP candidate in ward 31, cops deployed in Kandivali

The BJP won a closely fought contest with its candidate Manisha Kamlesh Yadav defeating Congress nominee Bhaglaxmi Lal Singh Rajpurohit by a margin of just 278 votes

The BJP won a closely fought contest in Ward No. 31, with its candidate Manisha Kamlesh Yadav defeating Congress nominee Bhaglaxmi Lal Singh Rajpurohit by a narrow margin of 278 votes in the BMC Election 2026, officials said on Friday.

Soon after the results were announced, Rajpurohit demanded a recount of votes and remained inside the counting centre, seeking clarity on the final tally.
