The BJP won a closely fought contest in Ward No. 31, with its candidate Manisha Kamlesh Yadav defeating Congress nominee Bhaglaxmi Lal Singh Rajpurohit by a narrow margin of 278 votes in the BMC Election 2026, officials said on Friday.

Soon after the results were announced, Rajpurohit demanded a recount of votes and remained inside the counting centre, seeking clarity on the final tally.

Supporters gather near counting centre

At the same time, hundreds of Congress supporters gathered outside the counting centre at Kandivali Bajaj School. They raised slogans and called for a review of the counting process, alleging discrepancies in the results.

Cops deployed

In view of the tense atmosphere, police personnel were deployed at the spot to maintain law and order. Officials said the situation was under control and counting procedures were being followed as per election rules.
