Over 1,200 nomination forms distributed and as many as 35 papers were filed on Saturday, the fourth day of the nomination process for the BMC Elections 2026 scheduled for January 15, an official said.
In a statement, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said the total number of nominations received so far has risen to 44.
According to the schedule announced by the Maharashtra State Election Commission, the filing of nomination papers began on December 23 and will continue until December 30.
The statement said 1,294 nomination forms were distributed on Saturday from the offices of 23 Returning Officers across the city.
Nomination process underway since Dec 23
According to the election schedule announced by the Maharashtra State Election Commission the nomination process began on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
Since then, the distribution of nomination forms has been as follows-
23 December 2025: 4,165 forms distributed
24 December 2025: 2,844 forms distributed
26 December 2025: 2,040 forms distributed; 9 nominations filed
27 December 2025: 1,294 forms distributed; 35 nominations filed
Over 10,000 nomination forms distributed so far
With Saturday’s figures included, a total of 10,343 nomination forms have been distributed so far across Mumbai. Out of these, 44 nomination papers have been formally submitted till date.
Nomination submission timeline
Candidates can submit their nomination papers from December 23 to December 30, 2025.
The submission window is open daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the respective Returning Officer offices.
Department-wise distribution and submissions
On December 27, nomination forms were distributed across all ward. The highest distribution was recorded in-
K West + K East (RO 8): 116 forms
P East (RO 5): 90 forms
M East + M West (RO 14): 81 forms
Nomination papers were filed in several divisions, including-
C + D Ward (RO 22): 9 submissions
M East Ward (RO 15): 5 submissions
A + B + E Ward (RO 23): 3 submissions
Election process continues
The steady distribution and filing of nomination papers indicate growing participation in the BMC Elections 2026.
