Ahead of the Chhath Puja 2025, the Western Railway on Wednesday announced additional special trains to Bihar in view of the festive rush in parts of the country. 

An official statement said, to help manage the extra rush of passengers during the festive season of Diwali and Chhath Puja, Western Railway has planned to run six pairs of unreserved festival special trains.


These special trains will run on special fares to key destinations across Bihar and other parts of northern India, it said.



According to a press release from Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the trains will connect Bandra Terminus, Udhna, Ankleshwar, and Sabarmati with cities like Patna, Jaynagar, Samastipur, and Muzaffarpur.

Details of special trains:

Train no. 09009/09010 with route Bandra Terminus - Patna

Runs: October 22-24 (Bandra to Patna)

Returns: October 24-26 (Patna to Bandra)

Travel Time: 36 hours

Halts at major stations including Bhusaval, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Prayagraj, and Danapur

Train no. 09091/09092 with route: Udhna - Jaynagar has been extended to Jaynagar from Samastipur

Runs daily until October 27 (from Udhna) and October 29 (from Jaynagar)

Halts include Jabalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Madhubani

Train no. 09093/09094 will run on the route: Udhna - Jaynagar and will have additional 6 trips

Runs: October 23-25 (Udhna to Jaynagar)

Returns: October 24-26 (Jaynagar to Udhna)

Includes stops like Bardoli, Vyara, and Sonpur

Train no. 09001/09002 with route: Udhna - Samastipur

Runs: October 23-25 (from Udhna) and October 24-27 (from Samastipur)

Halts include Vadodara, Bina, Satna, and Patliputra

Train no. 09157/09158 running on the route: Ankleshwar - Samastipur

Runs: October 23-24 (from Ankleshwar) and October 25-26 (return)

Stops at Ratlam, Ujjain, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and Hajipur

Train no. 09483/09484 on the route: Sabarmati - Muzaffarpur

Runs: October 22-25 (Sabarmati to Muzaffarpur)

Returns: October 24-27

Stops include Ajmer, Agra, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Chhapra

"All trains will consist of General Second Class coaches and do not require reservations. Passengers are advised to check detailed timings and halts on the Indian Railways enquiry website: www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in," the official statement said.

These trains are part of Indian Railways' efforts to manage the high travel demand during the festivals and ensure smoother passenger movement, it said.
