Two people were arrested yesterday for the possession of counterfeit currency, worth Rs 5 lakh, in Navi Mumbai. They were in the city to mix the fake currency with the original.
Keeping the festive season in mind, the duo were going to circulate the currency in crowded market areas, as they felt shopkeepers wouldn’t pay much attention to the notes. The accused, identified as Ali Ahmad Jibril Ahmad Sha (35) and Arif Bar Sai (32), were arrested from Airoli after the Crime Branch officials got a tip-off about their arrival.
