COVID-19 deaths on the rise in Maharashtra; Mumbai cases below 10,000

The state recorded 63,729 new cases taking the total tally to 37.03 lakh. A total of 398 COVID deaths were reported over the past 24 hours taking the toll to 59,551.

Maharashtra recorded around 63,000 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday while the city saw less than 10,000 infections again. However, what is slowly becoming a matter of concern is the rising number of daily COVID deaths in the state, which has almost touched 400. Even though the mortality rate is steady, the numbers are increasing not just in the state but in Mumbai as well.
The state recorded 63,729 new cases taking the total tally to 37.03 lakh. A total of 398 COVID deaths were reported over the past 24 hours taking the toll to 59,551. The city saw 8,803 fresh cases, whereas the MMR recorded 17,635 infections on Friday. The Thane Municipal Corporation area, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan-Dombivli Corporation area recorded 1,530, 1,192 and 1,541 cases respectively, in the MMR.
