Central and Western Railway to run over 280 special trains for Ganpati festival 2025, check details

According to the railways, the Central Railway will operate 250 special trains, while Western Railway has announced five special services with multiple trips to popular Konkan and coastal destinations like Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi, and Madgaon

In a major relief for Lord Ganesh devotees, Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) have announced over 280 special train services to manage the festive rush during Ganesh Festival 2025.

According to the railways, the Central Railway will operate 250 special trains, while Western Railway has announced five special services with multiple trips to popular Konkan and coastal destinations like Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi, and Madgaon.


Central Railway will run special trains from CSMT, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Pune and Diva to key Konkan destinations such as Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi Road, Madgaon, and Chiplun. The services below will run between August 22 and September 10, 2025.



1) CSMT- Sawantwadi Road –CSMT Daily Special  (40 Services)
 
01151 special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus  at 00.20 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 10.09.2025 (20 Trips) and will arrive Sawantwadi  Road at 14.20 hrs  same  day.
 
01152 special will leave Sawantwadi  Road at 15.35 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 10.09.2025 (20 Trips)  and will arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 04.35 hrs next  day.
 
Halts: Dadar, Thane, Panvel,  Pen, Roha,  Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Zarap.
 
Composition: Two AC-3Tier, 12 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second class and 2 Second Seating cum Guard’s brake van.

2) CSMT- Sawantwadi Road –CSMT Daily Special  (36 Services)
 
01103 special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 15.30 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 08.09.2025 (18 Trips) and will arrive Sawantwadi  Road at 04.00 hrs next  day.

01104 special will leave Sawantwadi  Road at 04.35 hrs daily from 23.08.2025 to 09.09.2025 (18 Trips)  and will arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 16.40 hrs same day.

Halts: Dadar, Thane, Panvel,  Pen, Roha,  Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Kamathe, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Zarap.
 
Composition: Two AC-3Tier, 12 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second class and 2 Second Seating cum Guard’s brake van.

3) CSMT- Ratnagiri –CSMT Daily Special  (36 Services)

01153 special will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus  at 11.30 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 08.09.2025 (18 Trips) and will arrive Ratnagiri  at 20.10 hrs  same  day.
 
01154 special will leave Ratnagiri at 04.00 hrs daily from 23.08.2025 to 09.09.2025 (18 Trips) and will arrive Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus  at 13.30 hrs same  day.
 
Halts: Dadar, Thane, Panvel,  Pen, Roha,  Mangaon, Veer, Karanjadi, Khed, Chiplun, Kamathe, Sawarda, Aravali Road and Sangameshwar Road,
 
Composition: Two AC-3Tier, 12 Sleeper Class 6 General Second class and 2 Second Seating cum Guard’s brake van. 

4) LTT- Sawantwadi Road –LTT Daily Special  (36 Services)
 
01167 special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 21.00 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 08.09.2025 (18 Trips)  and will arrive Sawantwadi Road at 9.20 hrs next day.
 
01168 special will leave Sawantwadi Road at 11.35 hrs daily from 23.08.2025 to 09.09.2025 (18 Trips)  and arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 00.40 hrs next day.
 
Halts: Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha.  Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Zarap.
 
Composition: Two AC-3Tier, 12 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second class and 2 Second Seating cum Guard’s brake van.
 
5) LTT- Sawantwadi Road –LTT Daily Special  (36 Services)
 
01171 special will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 08.20 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 08.09.2025 (18 Trips)  and will arrive Sawantwadi Road at 21.00 hrs same day.
 
01172 special will leave Sawantwadi Road at 22.35 hrs daily from 22.08.2025 to 08.09.2025 (18 Trips)    and will arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 10.40 hrs next day.
 
Halts: Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha.  Mangaon, Veer, Khed, Chiplun, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal and Zarap station.

The Central Railway said that - 

CSMT–Sawantwadi Road will run daily) and will have 76 trips

- CSMT–Ratnagiri (Daily): 36 trips

- LTT–Sawantwadi Road (Daily & Weekly): 75 trips

- LTT–Madgaon AC & Mixed (Weekly): 10 trips

- Pune–Ratnagiri (AC & Regular Weekly): 12 trips

- Diva–Chiplun MEMU (Unreserved): 38 trips

"Bookings for these trains open on July 24, 2025 via IRCTC and at all computerised railway counters. Unreserved tickets will be available on the UTS mobile app and at booking windows," an official statement said.

Western Railway Ganpati Specials:

Western Railway will operate five special trains with a total of 44 trips to handle extra passenger load during the festival season.

- Mumbai Central – Thokur Weekly Special (4 trips)

- Mumbai Central – Sawantwadi Road Special (20 trips, 4 days a week)

- Bandra Terminus – Ratnagiri Weekly Special (6 trips)

- Vadodara – Ratnagiri Weekly Special (4 trips)

- Vishvamitri – Ratnagiri Bi-Weekly Special (10 trips)

Bookings for Western Railway trains will open on July 23, 2025.

These trains will halt at key Konkan stations including Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, and Kankavli, among others.

"Passengers are advised to check detailed schedules and halts at enquiry.indianrail.gov.in or via the NTES App. Due to the high demand during Ganesh Chaturthi, passengers are encouraged to book early," the official statement said.
