On the occasion of Dahi Handi, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police organised an anti-drug awareness campaign highlighting the harmful effects of narcotics and their social and economic consequences.
According to police officials, on August 16, 2025, the Anti-Narcotics Cell, Kandivali Unit, conducted awareness programmes during the Dahi Handi festivities at Devipada (Borivali East), Rajendra Nagar (Borivali West), and Kandivali West. Citizens and children from Dahi Handi mandals participated in the campaign, where officers explained the ill effects of drug abuse and provided guidance to the gathering.
Under the guidance of Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Lakhmi Gautam, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Anti-Narcotics Cell) Navnath Dhawale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Anti-Narcotics Cell) Sudhir Hirdekar, the programme was actively led by Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Jagdale, Assistant Police Inspector Vijay Naik, and the Anti-Narcotics Cell team, who continue to spearhead the awareness mission.
