A 32-year-old Govinda died and 75 were reported to be injured with two being in critical condition during Dahi Handi celebrations in Mumbai, the BMC said on Saturday evening.
The deceased was indeitified as Jagmohan Shivkiran Chaudhari, a member of the Bal Govinda Pathak, reportedly fell while tying the Dahi Handi rope at Maharashtra Nagar in Mankhurd. He was immediately rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi, where doctors declared him brought dead, officials said.
"While tying the Dahi Handi rope, he fell down and was sent to Shatabdi Govandi Hospital where he was declared dead," said an official.

"48 injuries were reported from Central Mumbai hospitals, with 27 under treatment, including one critical case -- Shreyas Chalke, 23, currently admitted to GT Hospital," said a Mumbai civic body bulletin.
It said that 17 Govindas were injured in the Eastern Suburbs of Mumbai and four are under treatment, while 13 have been discharged. Whereas 10 injuries occurred in the Western Suburbs of the city ). Of these, 1 is in critical condition -- Aryan Yadav, 9, admitted to BDBA Hospital in Kandivali and nine others have been discharged.
In total, 32 people were hospitalised till Saturday evening and two of them in critical condition, and 43 have been discharged after treatment, it further said.
Meanwhile, as many as three Govindas were injured during Dahi Handi celebrations in Thane district of Maharashtra and were admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa.
According to officials, the hospital informed that the injured include, Aditya Raghunath Verma, an 18-year-old boy from Waghoba Nagar, Kalwa East, suffered a head injury, Krishna Mithu Swayan, a 13-year-old boy from Mumbra, sustained an injury to his right hand and a 10-year-old boy from Atkoneshwar Nagar, Kalwa East, also suffered a head injury.
All three boys were injured while participating in the traditional Dahi Handi event in Thane district when they were injured, officials said, adding that the civic authorities have urged the participants to be cautious during celebrations.
