A fire broke out at a shop at Diva area in Thane district of Maharashtra, civic officials said on Friday, adding that the shop was completely damaged in the incident.
According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the incident took place at Sai Shraddha Chawl, near Sujata Hotel in Dharmaveer Nagar, along the Diva-Agasan Road in Thane, on Thursday, the officials said.
They said that the information about the incident was received at around 12.42 pm from the fire station.
The fire occurred in Shop No. 01, located in Chawl No. 15. The shop, measuring approximately 10 x 20 feet.
Emergency teams rush to spot
Personnel from the Diva police, Torrent Power, and the fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot. The fire brigade deployed one fire engine and one rescue vehicle to control the blaze.
Fire fully extinguished
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by around 1.04 pm. Officials confirmed that the fire was completely extinguished and the situation is now under control.
No injuries were reported in the incident. A worker was present inside the shop when the fire broke out but managed to escape safely.
Property damage
The fire caused damage to items stored inside the shop, including mattresses, cotton, a mattress-making machine and other materials. Due to the intensity of the fire, cement roofing sheets cracked and collapsed, causing further damage to the structure.
Officials said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Two cars gutted in early morning fire in Kopri
Meanwhile, in an another incident, a fire broke out in two parked four-wheeler vehicles near Gayatri Salon in Sindhi Colony in Kopri area of Thane East, in the early hours of Friday.
Fire brigade teams from the Kopri Fire Station rushed to the spot with a fire engine and a water tanker, accompanied by Disaster Management Cell staff and personnel from the Kopri Police Station. The blaze was brought under control within minutes, and no injuries were reported.
Two vehicles were completely gutted in the fire, while another car suffered partial damage, with flames affecting its right side.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
