Maharashtra local body elections: Thane lists 11 vote counting centres, polling in city on Jan 15

Ahead of the Maharashtra local body elections, the Thane civic administration has finalised 11 vote counting centres for the city. Polling for the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) is scheduled on Thursday, January 15, while the counting of votes will take place on Friday, January 16.

An official statement on Wednesday said that all centres will be equipped with strong rooms, security arrangements and necessary facilities to ensure a smooth and transparent counting process.


The election to the Thane Municipal Corporation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The counting of votes will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026, starting from 10 am, officials said.



Thane Municipal Commissioner and Election Officer Saurabh Rao said that counting will be conducted at 11 designated centres across the city, officials said.

Counting centres identified ward-wise

For wards 1, 2, 3 and 8 under the Majiwada-Manpada ward , counting will be held at New Horizon Education Society, Building C, near Rodas Society, Hiranandani Estate, Thane.

Wards 4, 5 and 7 under the Vartaknagar ward will have counting at the Late Baburao Sarnaik Gymnasium Centre near Bethany Hospital on Pokhran Road No. 2.

For wards 6, 13, 14 and 15 under the Lokmanya Savarkar ward , votes will be counted at the Mahila Bachat Gat Bhavan near Kores Hospital, Thane.

Additional locations across Thane

Votes for wards 16, 17 and 18 under the Wagle Estate ward will be counted at the Government Polytechnic, Wagle Estate.

For wards 19, 20, 21 and 22 under the Naupada-Kopri ward, counting will take place at Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Polytechnic College building, Thana College, ground floor.

Wards 10, 11 and 12 under the Uthalsar ward will have counting at Holy Cross High School Hall, K Villa, Thane.

Centres in Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva

For wards 9, 23, 24 and 25 under the Kalwa ward, votes will be counted at Sahyadri High School, fourth floor, Kalwa.

In Mumbra, counting for wards 26 and 31 will be held at Maulana Abul Kalam Stadium, Kausa, Badminton Hall, ground floor, while wards 30 and 32 will be counted at the same stadium on the first floor.

For Diva ward areas, counting for wards 27 and 28 will be held at Maulana Abdul Kalam Stadium, Kausa, at the spectators’ gallery on the ground floor and the rear side of the first floor on the southern side. Counting for wards 29 and 33 will take place at the same venue on the northern side.

Security and Facilities in Place

The civic administration has said that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the counting process is transparent, smooth and secure. Police security and CCTV surveillance have been put in place at all counting centres.

Candidates’ authorised representatives, counting staff and officials have been asked to report to the respective centres strictly at the scheduled time.
