Man arrested in Thane for firing at neighbour in UP

A 48-year-old man was arrested by the Thane police with a country-made revolver on Sunday. The Wagle Estate unit of Thane crime branch, on further interrogation, found that he had committed an offence in Azamgarh, where he fired a round from the revolver and injured a person over some dispute. To avoid arrest, he came to Mumbai.
According to the police, the arrested accused has been identified as Sauraf Irshad Khan (48), a resident of Santosh Nagar in Mumbra. He originally hails from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Senior Police Inspector, Anil Pophale of Wagle Estate unit 9 of Thane Crime Branch, received an information about a man i.e. Khan coming at Thane, with a illegal country-made revolver. "We received information regarding that. He is a sharp-shooter and was wanted in Uttar Pradesh. We, accordingly, laid a trap on Sunday near Anand Cinema in Thane west, Kopri. At around 1:30 pm, we caught hold of him, and found a revolver from his custody that contained two live bullets. The total cost was Rs 50,400,” added Pophale.
