<p>This is a two-feet-wide footpath with no space to walk at VVIP Walkeshwar Road from Bandstand all the way to the Governor&rsquo;s Gate. Every day, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-stretch-of-delhi-mumbai-expressway-likely-to-be-traffic-ready-by-august-31-says-cm-fadnavis-23637266" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">CM&rsquo;s entourage makes a round trip </a>but no one notices or cares.<br /><strong><em>Raj Rasania</em></strong></p>
<h2>Fix manhole covers</h2>
<p>I wish to bring to your notice that there are two or three damaged and uneven<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-matunga-residents-raise-alarm-over-broken-drain-cover-23637036" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> manhole covers</a> are present at the same location on Yari Road, Andheri West. These damaged manholes have remained unattended for a considerable period despite repeated inconvenience to road users. These caved and uneven covers pose a serious risk to motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles. They also cause traffic disruptions, damage to vehicles, and increase the likelihood of accidents, especially during the monsoon and at night. I request the concerned department to: Conduct an immediate inspection of all three locations. Repair or replace the damaged manhole covers with proper road levelling. Ensure permanent restoration to eliminate the recurring hazard.<br /><strong><em>Iqbal Gilani Mansuri</em></strong></p>
<h2>Garbage trouble</h2>

<p>This garbage collection point, located close to the road, has not been cleared for several weeks, resulting in severe stench and accumulation of rotten waste. I, myself expressed worry over the health risks posed to local residents and thousands of daily pedestrians and visitors in the area. I would like to urge the civic authorities to either permanently relocate the garbage hub or ensure regular and timely clearance to prevent further inconvenience and health hazards. This issue once again brings attention to the challenges of waste management and civic maintenance in densely populated residential and temple areas of Mumbai. Local residents hope for prompt intervention by the BMC to resolve the matter in the larger public interest.<br /><strong><em>Iqbal Gilani Mansuri</em></strong></p>
<h2>Missing road divider</h2>
<p>In <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mid-day-impact-plastic-barriers-prove-ineffective-near-aarey-milk-colony-flyover-in-mumbai-safety-risks-persist-23626689" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Kalina, we have a missing road divider on Hansbughra Road</a> of short length on a curved near the traffic lights at the junction of Hansbughra Road and CST road. Since it is on a curve, drivers tend to get confused and enter the wrong carriageway on CST road. In the past there have been near misses and accidents on account of traffic entering the wrong carriageway of the CST road. Luckily, as far as in know, there have been no deaths. Hoping you could get the authorities to take action to reinstall the missing divider.<br /><strong><em>Robin Viegas</em></strong></p>
<h2>Confusing signs</h2>

<p>A signage at Naigaon station shows the arrow above the exit that actually leads to another bridge that leads to the same platform. Ideally there should have been two arrows, marked left and right for the correct exits. I had bought this to the attention of the DRM, WR through &lsquo;X&rsquo;. <h2>Closed FOB</h2>
<p>Residents of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-footbridge-in-limbo-leaves-vikhroli-residents-climbing-barricades-23634756" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Vikhroli East, particularly students, express deep frustration over the continued closure of the crucial Foot Overbridge</a> (FOB) over the Eastern Express Highway, despite repair and maintenance work being completed months ago. The bridge, linking Tagore Nagar and Kannamwar Nagar, remains inaccessible due to administrative delays, forcing commuters to take longer and riskier routes across the busy highway. Authorities must immediately complete all pending approvals and operationalise the bridge as promised. New tiles and railings have already been installed, confirming its fitness for public use. Any further delay is unjustified and endangers public safety, especially during the upcoming college season.<br /><strong><em>Iqbal Gilani Mansuri</em></strong></p>
<h2>Crowded Metro</h2>
<p>Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Versova-Ghatkopar) is facing dangerously overcrowded conditions. The authorities should urgently increase the number of carriages to improve passenger safety and comfort. Higher capacity would also encourage more people to use public transport instead of private cars, helping save fuel.<br /><strong><em>Sachin Agarwal</em></strong></p>
<h2>Responses</h2>
<p>After Mumbaikars sent in their questions and woes to mid-day last Monday, some of the authorities concerned responded. We haven&rsquo;t given up on the rest. We shall continue to hold authorities accountable for the state of the city.</p>
<h2>Garbage strewn around</h2>
<p><strong>Reader: Smita Joshi</strong><br />BMC responds: A solid waste management department official said, &ldquo;The roads are cleaned by BMC every day. Housing societies tend to leave their garbage bins outside their gates close to the timing when BMC garbage vans do their rounds. But, if any spot has become a nuisance point, action will be taken against offenders for littering in public places.&rdquo; Another senior civic official from the K-West ward said, &ldquo;I will instruct officials to check this on priority, and take appropriate action.&rdquo;</p>

<h2>Metro signs</h2>
<p><strong>Reader: Geeta Thakker</strong><br />MMRDA responds: Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 officials said the Siddhivinayak station has facility of both escalators and elevators and there is proper mapping of all of them on the MMRCL app, which shows the exact location of every escalator.</p>
<h2>Mangroves turned into dumping ground</h2>
<p><strong>Reader: Techla B D&rsquo;Souza</strong><br />State responds: An official from Mangrove Cell said, &ldquo;The location where the garbage dumping was done is outside the jurisdiction of the Mangrove Cell and as per our knowledge BMC has been told to remove the garbage.&rdquo;</p>

Citizens can send a photograph of the area, with the location on 9619617022 in case of such complaints, so that action can be taken on priority.&rdquo;</p>
