Mumbai’s air quality was in the ‘moderate’ category on Sunday, with the city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) at 127 (PM2.5) at 4 pm, up from 120 on Saturday and 99 on Friday, according to the Sameer app of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The figure for the nation’s capital, infamous globally for its poor air quality, on the other hand, was 187 (PM2.5) around the same time.
A haze hung over the city for most of the day, with only three of 22 monitoring stations recording ‘satisfactory’ air (below 100): Kandivli West (81), Mulund West (87) and Sewri (99). The other 19 were above 100, and six were above 150.
