<p>To facilitate citizens in paying property tax for the financial year 2025&ndash;26, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/more-efforts-are-needed-to-make-property-tax-payment-easier-and-easier-says-mumbai-civic-body-chief-23464054" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Citizen Facilitation Centres</a> (CFCs) in all 24 ward offices of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will remain open on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.<p>

<h2>Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis inaugurates flats under Worli's BDD chawl redevelopment; hands over keys</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/promote-operation-sindoor-swadeshi-at-ganesh-pandals-maharashtra-cm-23589390" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis </a>inaugurated the flats under the Worli BDD Chawl Redevelopment Project on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>
<p>DCM Eknath Shinde, DCM Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Dr Neelam Gorhe, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister Adv Ashish Shelar, MoS Dr Pankaj Bhoyar, MP Milind Deora, and other dignitaries were present.</p>
<p>The keys of the flats were handed over by CM Fadnavis during an event in Mumbai.</p>
<p>The redevelopment project is one of the most ambitious urban renewal initiatives in Asia, undertaken by the Maharashtra government and implemented by MHADA&rsquo;s Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board. In total, 9,689 residents from 121 old chawls (tenement buildings) in Worli are to be rehabilitated.</p>
<p>In the first phase, Building No. 01&rsquo;s D and E wings have been completed. Each eligible family currently living in 160 sq ft rooms will now receive modern, fully furnished 2BHK homes measuring 500 sq ft, at no cost and on an ownership basis. The buildings also feature fire safety systems, branded fittings, three passenger lifts, one stretcher lift, and one fire lift.</p>
<p>Each home includes one dedicated parking space in a podium-style facility and an eco-friendly garden on the seventh floor. Additional amenities include vitrified tile flooring, granite kitchen platforms, aluminium-framed windows, and high-quality plumbing.</p>
<p>The redevelopment plan also provides a commercial complex, schools, gyms, hospitals, hostels, a sewage treatment plant, solar energy systems, and rainwater harvesting.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-mhada-official-booked-for-abetment-of-suicide-after-wife-kills-self-in-kandivali-flat-23586722" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">MHADA</a> will maintain the new buildings for 12 years.</p>
<p>The project will also preserve the historical legacy of the BDD Chawls. Jambori Maidan and Ambedkar Maidan will be protected, and a museum will showcase the heritage and history of the chawls.</p>
<p>According to an official statement, under the leadership of MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, the project has advanced rapidly. By December 2025, over 3,989 flats across <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/new-5-25-km-long-promenade-along-mumbai-coastal-road-to-be-thrown-open-to-people-on-aug-15-23589462" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Worli</a>, Naigaon (Dadar), and N M Joshi Marg (Parel) are expected to be completed.</p>
<p>Until their new homes are ready, residents can choose between temporary transit accommodations or advance rent payments of Rs 25,000 per month for 11 months.</p>
<p>The full BDD redevelopment project spans about 86 acres and includes around 207 chawls across Worli, Parel (N M Joshi Marg), and Naigaon.</p>
<p>In total, 15,593 families will be rehabilitated, officials said.</p><p>
