Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has arrested three individuals from Nagaland in connection with the kidnapping of a city-based businessman. Crime Branch Unit 7 had been investigating the case for the past few days. According to police sources, the businessman’s family had reported that an unknown person had abducted him and was demanding a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore for his release.
During the probe, investigators traced the ransom call to Nagaland. A team from the Crime Branch was then dispatched to the Northeastern state, where they managed to detain all three accused. Before the situation could escalate into a local law and order issue, the team swiftly returned to Mumbai with the detainees.
Further investigation revealed a twist: the accused claimed they had kidnapped the businessman because he had allegedly cheated them of Rs 20–25 lakh. Acting on this allegation, the local Nagaland police registered a case against the businessman and arrested him.
