Police are searching for an unknown car driver in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 13-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Saturday evening near Borivli when the deceased, Manoj Sankar Kasabe was cycling towards his house in Shimpoli.

On April 19, around 5.30 pm, Kasabe and his friend Babu Guruswami were out cycling. Recounting the incident, Guruswami said, &ldquo;Manoj and I were on different cycles when a silver-coloured Maruti car came and hit his cycle.
The driver looked out of his window but did not stop the car.&rdquo; Sadly, while there were 20-30 people in the area when the accident happened, no one came forward to take the boy to the hospital.
&ldquo;Somehow, I managed to bring him to Suvarna Hospital that was two minutes away from the spot. However, the authorities refused to admit him and asked me to contact the cops first.
I then took him to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli where he died during treatment,&rdquo; said the 13-year-old. Guruswami claims that he has seen the driver before near Shimpoli garden, sitting in a car and listening to music.
The police have informed the deceased&rsquo;s parents, following which an FIR was registered. Based on the description provided by Kasabe&rsquo;s friend, they have launched the search of the accused who they believe is staying in the same area.
Police sub-inspector Avinash Rakse from Borivli station said, &ldquo;We received information about the incident from Shatabdi hospital around 8 pm. Kasabe died around 8.30 pm during treatment. We are currently trying to hunt down the car driver based on his friend&rsquo;s description.
There is no CCTV footage in the area of the incident.&rdquo; The case has been registered under IPC 304 (A), 279, 338 and 134 (A) (B) under Motor Vehicles Act.
