Maharashtra FDA suspends Tewari Bros food licence over hygiene violations

Days after mid-day reported a customer's allegation of finding a corroded metal pin inside a piece of Kaju Katli purchased from Tewari Bros Mithaiwala, the Maharashtra FDA has suspended the Charni Road sweet shop's food business licence with immediate effect

Mumbai FDA suspends Tewari Bros after inspection uncovers hygiene violations (File pic)

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended Tewari Bros Mithaiwala's food business licence with immediate effect after an inspection found serious violations of hygiene and sanitary requirements.

According to an official FDA statement issued on August 4, the department inspected the Charni Road-based sweet shop on August 1 and found violations of the hygiene and sanitary requirements prescribed under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
