Mumbai demolition site accident: Somaiya College student hit by iron rod, gets 15 stitches

A 17-year-old SK Somaiya College student suffered severe head injuries after an iron rod flew from a nearby demolition site during road-widening work in Vidyavihar

Deven Jain after sustaining injuries in the demolition site incident

A 17-year-old first-year undergraduate student of SK Somaiya College, Deven V Jain, sustained severe injuries on Tueday after an iron rod flew from a nearby demolition site and struck him on the head. The incident occurred around 3.30 PM while he was walking towards the Vidyavihar railway station.

Demolition work

The accident occurred during ongoing road-widening work near the station, where civic workers were demolishing a shop. Construction is currently underway in the area for the Vidyavihar East-West flyover bridge.
