The Mumbai Fire Brigade secured two bronze and two silver medals at the World Police and Fire Games 2025, held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. A team of six officers from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, including four women firefighters, represented the city as part of a 47-member Indian Fire Services delegation.
The team, led by Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dr. Deepak Ghosh, included firefighter Govind Bijle and women firefighters Ekta Golkar, Siddhi Sonawane, Shweta Davane, and Unnati Chilkewar.
The competition took place in Birmingham from June 28 to July 6, 2025. More than 5,000 athletes from over 70 countries participated, showcasing their prowess in more than 60 sporting and skill-based events.
India secured third place overall with a total of 588 medals, comprising 280 gold, 178 silver, and 130 bronze. From Mumbai, Dr. Deepak Ghosh won a bronze medal in the Ultimate Firefighter category (age 55 individual group). Unnati Chilkewar clinched a silver medal in the Stair Race – Casual Wear category, while Shweta Davane earned silver in the Stair Race – Full Gear category.
