Continuous heavy rainfall across Mumbai's catchment areas has significantly improved the city's water reserves, with the combined water stock in the seven lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai rising to 7,03,260 million litres, or 48.59 per cent of total useful live storage capacity, according to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department, Bhandup Complex report recorded at 6 am on Thursday, July 9.

The seven reservoirs have a total storage capacity of 14,47,363 million litres. On Wednesday, the city's water stock stood at 41.36 per cent, highlighting the rapid rise in reserves following intense monsoon activity.
