Mumbai lake levels: Water storage reaches 77.62 per cent after heavy rainfall; stock rises by 7.88 percentage points in 24 hours

The civic body said the reservoir stock increased by 7.88 percentage points in the 24-hour period between 6 am on July 23 and 6 am on July 24, following widespread rainfall across the catchment areas

Mumbai's water reserves witnessed a significant boost following heavy rainfall across the catchment areas, with the combined stock in the seven lakes supplying drinking water to the city rising to 77.62 per cent of total live storage capacity.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Hydraulic Engineer's Department, the reservoirs collectively held 11,23,443 million litres (ML) of water as of 6 am on Friday, July 24, against their total live storage capacity of 14,47,363 ML.
