Mumbai likely to receive very heavy rainfall in next 24 hours; lake levels increase

The BMC Disaster Control Department on Saturday, received 24 tree-fall complaints while 15 short-circuit incidents were reported across the city. No injuries were reported in these incidents

Heavy downpour on Saturday morning led to waterlogging once again in several low-lying areas of Mumbai. As a result of heavy downpour since Friday, Powai Lake in the eastern suburbs started overflowing on Saturday afternoon, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the city on Sunday and orange alert for June 14 (Monday).
