Mumbai has recorded a rise in several monsoon-related diseases, including dengue, malaria and leptospirosis, in 2026 compared to the corresponding period last year, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) latest monsoon health report for the period January 1 to July 14.

The data shows malaria cases increased by 18.2 per cent, rising from 3,115 cases in 2025 to 3,681 in 2026. Dengue infections also registered a significant 27.8 per cent jump, increasing from 734 to 938 cases, while leptospirosis cases rose 15.4 per cent from 136 to 157. H1N1 infections nearly tripled, climbing from 42 cases in 2025 to 113 this year, marking the sharpest increase among the reported diseases.
