The Navghar police arrested a Mulund-based man on Monday for allegedly harassing his neighbour. According to the police, the accused, Ulhas Trimbake, is an MBBS degree holder, but has stopped practicing a while back.

Police Sub Inspector, Vishnu Ladkat, from Navghar police station said, &ldquo;Both the accused and the victim live in neighbouring bungalows within the jurisdiction of our police station, and the two had been fighting over petty issues since 2008.&rdquo; Police say the victim and her husband had approached the Navghar police station some time back to complain about Trimbake, but no complaint was officially registered, though they warned him about his behaviour. The police say the accused had also lodged a case of atrocity against the victim who is a housewife (47).
The accused allegedly sent her SMS&rsquo; over petty housing society issues, threatening her. &ldquo;She approached the police station on Monday, claiming that she has been constantly harassed and threatened by the accused. She said that Trimbake had even been following her in order to scare her,&rdquo; added the officer.
&ldquo;Wherever the accused saw the victim, he would start abusing her. Trimbake stays alone in his bungalow, as his wife and children stay somewhere else. There were regular fights between Trimbake and the complainant,&rdquo; added Ladkat.
The accused has been booked under Sections 354 (a) (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures), (d) (stalking), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced in court on Tuesday and released on bail.
