With the airport on high alert following hijack threats as well as threats of ISIS attacks found in the washrooms, two youngsters were booked after they breached a security roadblock near the departure section of Terminal 2 (T2) on Sunday.

According to airport security officials, the youths, Mayank Malhotra and Prithvi Raj, were headed to the departures drop-off point of the international terminal when Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel asked them to halt. Malhotra, who was at the wheel, ignored them and continued to drive his car at the same speed.
This alarmed the personnel and they passed on a message to their counterparts at the end of the Sahar Road to stop them. Malhotra stopped the car only when he was forced to at the second roadblock, and the youths were found to have no travel documents or anything else to explain their presence in the area.
&lsquo;No documents&rsquo; &ldquo;Their car was in bad shape and, hence, they were asked to stop. When they breached the first nakabandi, they were forcibly stopped at another one at the end of the road. They didn&rsquo;t look like passengers and had no travel documents.
Neither of them could give any other reason for their presence there either, and they were handed over to the Sahar police,&rdquo; said a security official, who was present at the spot.
A senior airport official explained, &ldquo;At a time when the city airport has been getting threat calls and messages, even the smallest things are looked into carefully. Another thing that raised the CISF personnel&rsquo;s suspicion was that the registration numbers on the number plate were not visible from a short distance.&rdquo;
&ldquo;The Sahar police weren&rsquo;t ready to file a case on Sunday evening, but later registered one of suspicion vide Local Area Crime 54/2015 on Monday morning. The youths were also fined R2,200,&rdquo; the airport official added.
