IMD issues thunderstorm alert as intermittent rain likely to downpour across Mumbai

The IMD has issued a thunderstorm alert for Mumbai, forecasting lightning, gusty winds of 30-40 kmph and intermittent rainfall. While showers have brought relief from humidity, water levels in the city's seven lakes remain low at just 7.53 per cent of total capacity

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a rain warning for Mumbai in the next 48 hours, predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at 30-40 kmph. The advisory by the weather forecasting agency comes as parts of Mumbai and suburbs continue to receive intermittent rainfall on Saturday.

As per IMD, the Colaba observatory on Saturday recorded a minimum temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius along with 18.2 mm of rainfall, while the Santacruz observatory registered a minimum temperature of 25.9 degrees Celsius and 0.5 mm of rainfall.
