Mumbai: Western Railway recovers Rs 69 crore through ticket-checking drives in first quarter

Western Railway collected nearly Rs 69 crore through ticket-checking drives between April and June 2026 after detecting over 9.5 lakh ticketless and irregular passengers. The revenue rose 17 per cent year-on-year, while penalties in AC local trains surged nearly 160 per cent

Western Railway (WR) generated nearly Rs 69 crore through intensive ticket-checking drives conducted across its network between April and June 2026. As per the official statement, WR registered a growth of over 17 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
An official from the WR further highlighted that more than 9.50 lakh ticketless and irregular passengers, including cases involving unbooked luggage, were detected during the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27.
