While the state’s numbers stayed over 55,000, the city recorded less than 10,000 cases for the third consecutive day. However, the mortality is a cause of worry, with the state registering over 300 deaths again. There is a huge disparity between the state and civic body’s records, while the state recorded 28 deaths in Mumbai, the civic body recorded 50 deaths in the last 24 hours, its highest ever.

The state recorded 55,411 new cases, taking the total tally of Maharashtra to 33.43 lakh. The number of deaths due to other causes in the state was 1,478. These deaths are the cases where patients were positive and tested negative, but later, died due to other complications. According to the state government’s data, there were 309 COVID-19 related deaths in the state on Saturday, and highest number of deaths were recorded in Mumbai and Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporations, with 28 deaths each.
