Mumbai: Woman killed after being run over by bus near Infinity Mall in Malad

A tragic accident occurred near Infinity Mall in Malad West on Thursday evening, where a woman pedestrian was fatally run over by a BEST wet lease bus operated by Mateshwari Ltd. The incident took place around 4:45 PM on Route 224.

According to preliminary information, the Santacruz depot bus (No. 7839, MH01DR6677) was en route to Gorai Depot from Shastri Nagar when the accident occurred. As the bus reached the Infinity Mall junction, an unidentified woman attempted to cross the road from the front side of the vehicle. She came into contact with the front right corner of the bus, fell to the ground, and was subsequently run over by the front right tyre.


The on-duty police immediately rushed the injured woman to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, where doctors declared her brought dead. Her identity has not yet been confirmed.


The bus was driven by Rakesh Badelal Varma, 33, and was accompanied by conductor number 122835, both employees of Mateshwari under the BEST wet lease model.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
