NGT orders inspection into illegal dumping, mangrove destruction in Thane’s Diva

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered a joint inspection into alleged illegal dumping of waste and destruction of mangroves in Thane's Diva area after admitting an application filed by environmental NGO Vanashakti and another applicant.
The application, heard by the NGT's Western Zone Bench in Pune, names the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) and other respondents, alleging that unidentified persons have been dumping debris, wet and dry waste, and construction and demolition (C&D) waste across several CTS survey numbers in Diva.
