A case has been registered under sections 280 (rash navigation of vessel), 124(A) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act against the driver, Pramod Ramesh Kanojia (52), said senior inspector Achasaheb Patil of Turbhe police station, reported PTI.

"Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus was being driven at excessive speed, and the driver lost control near the Pfizer Company road stretch. Six people were injured and have been given medical attention. None of them are critically hurt," sub-inspector Prakash Jagtap said, reported PTI.

The bus involved belongs to the Turbhe depot of the NMMT.

Three killed, five injured in road accident in Meerut

In another incident, three persons were killed while five others were injured in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district on Friday morning, police said, reported PTI.

The accident occurred on a bridge over the Hindon River in the Sarurpur police station area when a speeding light vehicle crashed into a height barrier, police said, reported PTI.

Eight people were travelling in the vehicle when it was passing over the bridge along the Meerut-Baraut road. The impact of the collision left the vehicle badly damaged, killing three passengers on the spot, police said, adding that the injured were rushed to a hospital, reported PTI.

The crash triggered chaos in the area, police said.

Sarurpur SHO Ajay Shukla told PTI that the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed, though preliminary information suggests that the victims were from a distant location, reported PTI.

Police have seized the vehicle and initiated a probe into the incident, the SHO said.
