Welcoming the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) decision to cancel the Std XII exams considering the pandemic situation, Maharashtra State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad hinted through a video message on Tuesday that the state might take a decision on the same lines with regard to HSC exams.

Gaikwad pointed out how she had suggested that an alternative for the exam was necessary given the situation. “There should be uniformity in the decisions taken by all boards to avoid any mental stress for students. Even as the Std XII exams are very important in a student’s life, considering the current situation, students’ health and safety are of utmost importance. Maharashtra will soon take a decision for the State Board Std XII (HSC) exams,” said Gaikwad through the video message released by her office on Tuesday evening.

No tests for state passengers
Passengers arriving at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport from airports within the state have been exempted from taking the RT-PCR test upon landing in the city, the BMC said on Tuesday. “All domestic air passengers originating from airports located within Maharashtra to Mumbai are exempted from the RT-PCR test requirement upon landing in the city,” read the new directive.
